EXAMS

Students get the opportunity to take exams with the RAD, ISTD or Acrobatic Arts within our syllabus classes. Pupils will be invited to take their exam when their teacher feels they are performing the required elements to the best of their ability and to the satisfactory level required.

Exams are conducted by external examiners on various dates throughout the academic year. This gives the students a sense of occasion, a chance to perform all they've learnt in front of an experienced professional and it is a great experience for students to have to perform in the exam scenario. This is a very valuable life skill.

It is not compulsory to take exams, but if a student shows good ability, it is encouraged as it provides a focus and gives a sense of achievement. Students also receive feedback from qualified examiners on areas and strength & weakness which helps long term progress.

Students hoping to progress into further education in the performing arts, benefit from internationally recognised qualifications. When making an application for vocational training schools, this is formal way to communicate the current level of training you have received. Senior levels also provide UCAS points for university applications, which is particularly helpful if students don't plan to pursue a career in the performing arts.

Teachers at The Lisa Jane School of Dance are fully qualified with the exam boards above and invest continually to remain full teaching members and enable them to enter students for their exams. It is a requirement for full teaching members of these boards to participate in regular courses to remain up to date with current syllabus requirements, safe practise in the dance studio & safeguarding/first aid requirements.
